☞ DWELL: 475 West 141st Street Brownstone

The limestone and red brick townhouse at 141st Street between Convent and Amsterdam Avenue is thick on the charm, but is it enough in this market to ask for $1.65 million? The positives are that the house is turn-key and is in immaculate condition, and the immediate neighborhood feels like the back streets of the West Village. So what's not to like? Hamilton Heights is a bit further uptown than, and the amenities still are not as smart as, other parts of Harlem further south. It's also a good five minute walk to the A,B,C,D express train at 145th and St. Nicholas or the local 1 train at 137th Street and Broadway. Still, if one has a family that needs room to grow and wants a quiet neighborhood to live in, this might be the best choice for it is a far less expensive townhouse option than the West Village or prime Brooklyn.

  1. This house is truly worth the money. It has a lot of original detail which many others don't. It also has a lot of history and charm as the model house for the Clare Pickens real estate company.
