☞ EAT: Harlem's Best Eats for 2010

Last week's New York magazine neighborhood review had a final Best List in the form of top eats for each nabe. Harlem had three notable call outs including Best Pizza in East Harlem at Patsy's, Best Fried Chicken went to Central Harlem's Charles Country Pan Fried Chicken and Best Burger went to South Harlem newcomer 5 & Diamond. Everyone has their favorites so did New York get it right? Are there any other specialties missing on the list that are a must have in Harlem? Tonnie's Minis cupcakes come to mind for us. 1. My vote is for Patsy’s amazing pizza and it gets extra points for having survived all these years.

  2. Patisserie Des Ambassades has the best grilled lamb chops and the grilled tilapia is good too.

  3. Does anyone know what happened to Talay and The Body restaurants? The food at Talay was yummy.

  4. It's all closed down. We took the photo of Covo yesterday and that is the only restaurant currently open on that strip. Covo is probably the best choice in Manhattanville/West Harlem. Great food and ambiance.

  6. Chez Lucienne has the worst service. The food ranges from really good to are you seriously serving this. i would rather wait two hours for food at Yatanga at least the server is semi- friendly.

  7. Anon 1:16,

It depends with whom you're comparing their service to? List of best & worst restaurants are nothing short of being subjective. When I frequent Chez, the service is professional. Your standard for service is probably higher than mine? Who knows...

  9. I have been after my wife for a while to eat at Chez, Friday night she finally agreed. The food was delicious, the service was good and the price was right. Then something really strange happened, she got up to use the restroom, waited about 10 minutes, knocked on the door, a man opened the door and told her to "f**k off" and closed the door. She then knocked again and came back to our table and asked to see a manager. A staff member asked if she wanted to use the employee restroom, she did. The man finally came out of the restroom and left the restaurant. She returned from the staff restroom, I then went and used the regular restroom, while I was gone she was threatened by the man from the restroom. Telling her that she "should take a cab home"and he was "going to kill her". This altercation continued out into the street. All the management (or lack of) was concerned with was getting us out of there. Shouldn't a restaurant be a safe place? Are they afraid of this guy? Is there some business taking place there that has nothing to do with french food?
