We thought that East Harlem's new Lexington Social might be the latest lounge to watch out for but it turns out the just-opened establishment is a complete restaurant. When we passed by the space at the beginning of the week, signs and menus (click to enlarge) were set out front of the turn of the century style eatery. The price ranges are comfortably under $20 for entrees and there are reported $2 PBR's on draft. Steak frites, hamburgers, moules, small plates and daily specials such as seafood saffron linguini and croissant bread pudding (with dried cherries and lavender) all look like a winning combination. We haven't eaten there yet but the spot-on, old New York design of the place, reasonable price range and classic menu will definitely have us dropping by this weekend. I like the frontage, this would work well in central harlem.

ReplyDeleteSome friends and I are checking out this place tonight. Looks snazzy, and I've seen multiple reports of $2 PBR draft, which makes this my new favorite place. Duh.
ReplyDeleteIt is pretty ok for drinks! Food as long as you stick to nothing too much beyond pub style you are good. Overall, I am happy it moved into the 'hood.
ReplyDeleteSo we went the other day and the food was pretty good. I had the porkchop and it was reeeally great, friend who got the salmon said it was a little undercooked but still good, and another friend got the mac & cheese and liked it and one of the salads and it was only okay. Also, the PBR is $2 but it's in cans, not in draft. Still a great price—even some of my favorite dives downtown charge $2.25 for PBR. It's nice to have a place around the corner in the neighborhood to grab a cheap beer. And the staff was AWESOME. So great.
ReplyDeleteat there last night after reading this post. I also had the pork chop - and it was huge. The fancy sounding "puff" special app was reall just a quiche, and a cold one at that. The specialty cocktail menu, though, was a real highlight. On another ntoe, my bank statement says the merchant is still called SpaHa lounge - so I suspect it's the same ownership as before.
