It looks like Settepani at 196 Lenox is having a strong week with attention in the press but the real story is the news that their new better pizza joint just a block south at 119th Street appears to have started construction. The top two photos pretty much represents the gutted space in the last couple of months when the retail lease had not been signed at the Mount Morris Park Historic District location. We have received information from folks from that particular co-op building that confirms that the pizza parlor deal had been finalized and today's photo (last image) shows that the brown paper just went up on the windows to conceal construction. Spring-Summer 2011 looks like it will be the season of new openings!

ReplyDeleteThese blocks should be renamed Settepani Place as without their original vision and pioneering I doubt Native and Café Latte would have followed so soon in transforming lower Lenox into this mini restaurant row.
