☞ REVIVE: Some Activity at 117th and FDB

Everyone's favorite eyesore lot on the corner of FDB/8th Avenue and 117th Street has been looking really bad over the years but there was a little action happening on that said corner yesterday so maybe things are looking up. Just maybe.  Photo after the jump.

What's left of the plywood gate was open for the better half of the afternoon and three workers were on site at 2171 FDB/8th Avenue but the vacant land does not have any permits up for future development. This corner also has the address of 301 West 117th Street and was sold back in 2003 but nothing much has been happening on the site. The workers apparently were lightly digging in certain areas but at the end of the day, the lot was just trimmed of overgrowth and some caution tape was placed around the chain link fence sections.  Any tips out there?

  1. That's awesome; I saw this happening and thought to email you to see if you knew what they were doing.

  2. A tip received:

301 West 117th Street (the vacant land parcel) was issued a violation on June 2nd for a "defective leaning fence." Other than that, cannot find any other activity going on (or that has been recorded) as of yet.

  3. At this point, I would be happy if they just replaced the fencing and cleaned up the lot a bit.
