Another quick Hamilton Heights sales for the year happened over at No. 532 West 150th Street this past month. The single-family, 4,166 square foot home went into contract after being on the market for 3 weeks in April and now public records shows that the townhouse with the high-end renovations has finally sold. An initial asking price was set up for $1.475 million and it appears that the outstanding interior helped with selling the 15 foot wide townhouse. Photos after the jump.
After the deal closed, the townhouse that is not really on one of the more notable Harlem historic block sold slightly higher at $1.495 million a couple of weeks back. A few houses down on prime Convent Avenue have gone into contract in less than a month this year so West Harlem appears to be making some progress in the market.
The renovations and decor are certainly high end. The decor is absolutely magazine worthy, I'm thinking Elle Decor. Was this house on the market back in 2005? I think I remember seeing it on somebody's website then!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, the block does have its history, for example I do believe Ronnie Spector's family is from that block and an uncle of her's still lives there. Always heard that she treated the Beatles to Sherman's Barbecue ribs when it was on Amsterdam and 150th Street. Also, Ivan Dixon was from 518 West 150th Street, this I know for sure. Also, The Hines Bros. of Hines, Hines and Dad are from West 150th St. And Lee Grant was from 620 W. 149th St.

ReplyDeleteI knew Washington Heights was from 145th Street to 192nd Street.. Josh White the Folk singer lived on 150th between Amst. & B'way - the Hines Brothers lived on 151 St. & Amsterdam Ave -there were a lot of musicians that lived in the area. we left in 1952.the Irish were on Amsterdam ave - the Jews (WW11) were on Riverside Drive. The Hamilton Theater was on 145th & B'way on Sat. we go for 25.cents. There was a fFrench Rest. on 145th & Brodway. I could go on and on with memories of growing up that area where Washington Heights was Washington Heights. Black American owned the Brownstones in that area (Convent Ave. to Mt. Morris area. I forgot PS186 where greeks, japnese irish, jews and blacks went to school
