☞ REMEMBER: At the Jersey Pork Store c. 1939

A photo from 1939 shows a few local boys playing in front of the Jersey Pork Store somewhere in Central Harlem.  Even in the Great Depression decades, Harlem had fresh produce and butcher shops lining its avenues based on many of these older images on file.  The butcher shops only started returning in the past year and markets like Fairway and Best Yet have brought some better grocery shopping uptown.
