☞ EAT: Agua Fresca in the Times

The New York Times walks over to the east side of Harlem and checks out the Mexican flavors of Agua Fresca over at 207 East 117th Street at Third Avenue.  Resident chef Adrian Leon hails from Mexico City but comes up with new ways of combining traditional flavors that are not all that common in many of the uptown establishments.  Tacos are accented with braised beef tongue alongside grilled onions or shrimp and pineapple which tend to be combination not found on the more mainstream 116th Street Mexican corridor.  Mexican beers, South American wines and the namesake agua fresca are also served daily and makes this newish eatery one to look out for on the east side.  Read more of the review in the New York Times: LINK

  1. This place is my favorite restaurant. I eat here frequently. Also, it's got to be the best kept secret uptown. If this place had been located in Central Harlem, you'd have to make reservations to get in the place, because it would be so crowded. I'm glad to see Chef Leon finally getting some of the recognition he is due.

  3. The food here is superb and fresh! Best burrito we ever had... Lunch is a steal, and it's quiet and peacful then. Evenings sporatic, packed one night, dead another... (Room lighting is too bright at night). We have been, have had several deliveries. They had a "kick butt" review in NY Times that 7 weeks later they have failed to put up in window. and/or tout in their takeout menus. We raved to friends who live at the Kalahari, they ate there and loved it, but with 2 small children, they called for delivery next time, and Agua Fresca "refused" to deliver west (by less than half a block!) of 5th. They deliver to us, much higher on 5th. Makes NO sense at all. If they don't "get with it", they will be (very sad) history.

  4. My first time going today and the food was AMAZING!!!! The house bread was addictive and Pollito Del Bario had so much flavor, you have to try it if you go there! The chicken tacos were the best tacos i have ever had in my life! Great experience didn't have to wait long for the food, Nice intimate setting. Definitely going back for seconds, thirds, fourths etc.
