☞ REMEMBER: 289 Lenox Avenue circa 1932

The above photo shows the west side of Lenox Avenue between 124th and 125th Street back in 1932.  Today this is the big, grassy open lot that has been gated for some times now just north of the Mount Morris Park Historic District.  The smaller buildings disappeared some times ago while a larger, abandoned structure facing 125th Street burned down a few years back in a fire.  There were talks of possibly a new hotel on this corner of Lenox more recently but nothing much has happened since then.

  1. This huge and centrally located vacant lot that is currently here has taken so long to develop. The upside is that as upper Lenox restaurant row continues to improve it raises the bar for any future development on this lot, but please do not let it be Walmart. Great photo.
