☞ INTRODUCING: Astor Row Cafe Debuts

It appears that the new Astor Row Cafe has now had a soft opening on the corner of Lenox and 130th Street at the start of the week.  This coffee shop went up so quickly that many of the neighbors did not notice what was going on.  We received news in the past two weeks about its construction and now the new business around the corner from the landmark block of Astor Row has opened.

This is a large, brightly lit space with reclaimed wood mixed in alongside contemporary finishes and can hold a lot of coffee drinkers.  Signage out front might help it along since many folks are walking by the storefront and are not aware of what the place is about. Hopefully more seating will come along by summer and maybe then another corner outdoor patio will have arrived on upper Lenox.  Has anyone dropped by yet?

  2. I know, it's exciting, right? Keep coming north, all you new businesses! I popped my head in on Saturday when they were putting some finishing touches on the space. Looks good. Can't wait to try the food.

  3. Hmm is there a spot for us tea drinkers? What bite sized snacks do the offer?

  4. You there was a spot that opened up 2 yrs ago on 7th Ave and 138th I believe. It was called 'Tea and Things Like That' but I think it shuttered because of lack of business. At least that's what i gathered since the last few times it's looked closed.

  5. Stopped in today! I had some regular coffee, but they were making tea and espresso drinks too. Only a few pastries, but they said more food items start Monday. Big, airy bright space, with local art? I think on the walls. Oh and wi-fi!

  6. Love the place, nicely designed and they have really good coffee. An artist was hanging his art while I was there yesterday. Personally I hope the place doesn't get overrun w/a zillion folks on their laptops, which can kill the social atmosphere.

  7. I agree, "...a zillion folks on their laptops...can kill the social atmosphere."

  8. Dropped in on the weekend. They make a nice creamy latte. But nearly every table was filled with laptop lugging folks who didn't look ready to share the space. The coffee bar was comfy and more social. I struck up a conversation with some locals while they waited on their order. The food offerings are spare and not too appealing. Everything was premade. Apparently salads are coming. And some kosher selections, too.
