☞ REVIVE: 58 East 126th Street in the Times

The Times gets the details on the demolition that is happening to 58 East 126th Street and how nieghbors have been struggling for the past years to save the neglected building.  As reported before, this block on the east side of Central Harlem has perfect rows of townhouses on each side and many now are frustrated on what the destruction of one building will bring in the future.     come on. we can save this building - or at least the facade - It will cost a few extra dollars then just demolishing it - but Harlem is that much better for all the facades that were saved over the bad years.. Clearly this one can be saved. Where are our elected officials?

  3. While I am not a knee-jerk preservationist, I do hope that the facade of this building can be saved. The continuity of this block is rare and lovely.

  4. One of the reasons this is allowed to happen is because the city will ignore crumbling drug infested buildings for years while ticketing the next door neighbor for litter on the sidewalk. The city needs to make the owners of these abandoned buildings accountable.
