☞ REVIVE: The Hamilton Theater Up for Lease?

A Bespoke reader has informed us that the El Mundo store within the Hamilton Theater in West Harlem will be vacating the space soon. This Thomas W. Lamb building on the corner of West 146th Street and Broadway is probably one of the grandest space in this part of town but has been used for a dollar store in the past decade or so.  As reviewed in our past post, most of the original theater in the back end of the building has not been utilized and appears to be intact still: LINK.

It is unclear what will happen to the theater now but a full restoration to a community performance space would probably liven up this section of town that is only a block away from the 145th Street station.  Does anyone have any idea on what will happen to the Hamilton Theater?  Check out an old photo of the building from 1915 in another previous post: LINK

  4. Enough of the "community spaces" in Harlem. We have more "community spaces" than we could possible use. Let's put a huge bar/club there. Or a huge restaurant. Let's build something that people in the community will actually use!!!
