☞ SHOP: Continual Construction at Harlem Shake

We walked by the huge storefront that will be the better burger joint called Harlem Shake and noticed even more activity at hand.  The plywood wall that wraps around the corner of 124th Street and Lenox Avenue was placed up to only window level last month but now has been extended all the way up to the second floor of the building.

This probably means that some major signage is currently being constructed for the new eatery and everything will apparently be hidden from view until the restaurant opens. As far as the vintage neon liquor sign is concerned, we here that the new owners will keep it up as retro design element that keeps a little of the neighborhood history intact.  Read more about Harlem Shake in our past post: LINK

  2. I like this fully concealed construction hoarding, similar was used on Corner Social. It is almost a gift wrapping that teases the neighborhood with anticipation of what will be ultimately be revealed. It could use a coat of paint though.

  3. Good to see some establishments finally venturing below 125th, it will be a great day when Lenox Avenue has restaurants from the original pioneer Settepani all the way up to 125th.

  4. I know this is good news but I am hoping for more vegetarian options in Harlem...I am still mourning the loss of Mobay. It was a great place and they did have food for everyone I ever brought there.

  5. Steve B: seasoned vegan!! Soon...

And I'm hopeful that maybe this Harlem Shake will follow in the tradition of Bareburger and even Shake Shack in having excellent veggie burger options, though I have no idea if they really will or not.
