☞ BESPOKE: Harlem Renaissance Fashion 2013

Historic American menswear has been a major fashion influence in the past five years or so and now one notable European label has taken it further with a show that features the well dressed gentlemen of the Harlem Renaissance.  Those familiar with the fashion world know that DSquared2 has featured all African American models before in their show but took a truly classic turn at last month's fashion presentation in Milan.

The jazz age influence is obvious in the collection call La Nouvelle Noire which spotlights the tailored looks of early half of the 20th century mixed with modern dress elements such as denim and some seriously tall, short brimmed fedoras.  There a quite a few older gentlemen in Harlem that still dress like this but many of the younger men have started to adopt this sensibility and has now influenced the designer world at large.  Check out the full runway presentation at the 2 minute mark on the video.
