☞ REMEMBER: The Third Avenue El circa 1910

An image taken in East Harlem around 1910 shows the view of the neighborhood from the elevated tracks of the Third Avenue El.  This part of east Harlem over by 99th Street appears to have been mostly countryside at that point in time but tenement and brownstone blocks would soon appear within the decade.

  1. Great photo, it is not often we see the El locomotives and especially the train operators.
