☞ MEET: Politicians and Vendors at Harlem Pride

We congratulated the Harlem Pride organizers this year for an amazing turnout which caught the attention of local politicians and vendors alike.  Since this a LGBT Pride celebration, mayoral candidate Christne Quinn came out in full force with a team of volunteers that greeted and spent quite a bit of time at the event.  Anthony Weiner also made an appearance and then John Liu but Bill Thompson did not seem to have a firm presence at the event.  The most recent polls suggest a tie between Quinn, Weiner and Thompson so one would expect any sort of campaigning at a major event in Harlem would be considered valuable at this point in time: LINK

Harlem Pride also attracts many vendors and we noticed that Manna's secured a stand this year on Bradhurst Avenue.  Betty Park's popular local soul food buffet chain was started back in the 80s when most business were closing in Harlem and Manna's was definitely serving up some love this weekend for the community.  We did not see food stands from the other notable businesses of Harlem but expect to see this change by next year since Harlem Pride has tripled in attendance from even a year ago at the Jackie Robinson Park location.

  1. Great pictures, and thank you for featuring the one and only, Betty Park. Betty is a huge ally of the LGBT/SGL community, and having spent time with her yesterday, she went on and on about what a wonderful time she had at Harlem Pride. I certainly hope we reward those venues who support us with our business. I love Betty!
