☞ INTRODUCING: Made En Harlem Taqueria

Tips have come in that a public notice has been posted up by 115th Street and FDB at the former dry cleaner space.  It turns out that Made En Harlem Taqueria will arrive soon.  Word of mouth has it that the owner is from Washington Heights and will be opening the eatery in South Harlem in early 2014.   The name is a bit odd but a Mexican eatery would definitely help mix things up on the FDB corridor.

  1. Directly across the street should be another new business - there was a public hearing notice for Dec 12th for a liquor license of 115 Restaurant Corp for 2128 FDB. Very excited to fill that long-vacant space!

  2. Made En Harlem?! Common now people. We all know we're in Harlem. Using "Harlem" in your name when you are in Harlem is analogous to wearing an "I Love NY" t-shirt in New York. That said, I do like Mexican food.

  3. Totally disagree with the Harlem assessment. Brooklyn Bowl, Brooklyn Brewery, Brooklyn Industries, etc.... Harlem is a notable name so Harlem Grange, Harlem, Tavern, etc... works. The only call out is that when one uses the neighborhood name, usually a descriptive of the establishment is attached. Made En Harlem sounds like a clothing store and not an eatery. Harlem Taqueria, Harlem Taco Co., etc... would make more sense.

  4. I'm with you on the name. Rumor has it this place is going to sell art too. We'll see. There are already some half decent places to get Mexican (Lolita, Cantina). I'm looking for a place with a little more atmosphere.

  5. I mean, they could have at least gone with "Hecho en Harlem" for the alliteration...
