☞ READ: Chelsea BBQ Arriving on 125th Street

A few years back, the downtown Chelsea neighborhood appeared to have quite a few new notable BBQ joints opening but now they appear to be closing just as quickly.  Rub BBQ on 23rd shut down last year and now Eater reports that BBQue's Smoke Shack has shuttered but will be making its way to Harlem.  We actually like this casual eatery that has great affordable fare and it appears that 125th Street will be the new location based on the signs up at the shuttered shop: LINK

  1. Wonderful! I live on 120th and Lenox. Look forward to trying this place out.

  2. This is happening all over the Village. The small mom and pop places are being priced out and replaced by chains like Starbucks and even an iHOP. Many of the owners are moving their establishments uptown where they can actually afford the rent and are in demand.

The Village has turned into Disneyland for Euro tourists. Sad indeed.

  3. Hmm 125th and Lenox? I have no idea where this location would be. All four corners are occupied. A CVS, the new whole foods, starbucks and then cohen's. I wonder if cohen's is closing?

  5. What about the old Mobay space? I don't think anything has occupied that space yet?
