☞ BESPOKE: Harlem Restaurant Decoupage

UPDATE:  Just added the decoupage photo form Harlem Shake at 124th and Lenox which is a collection of old Jet Magazine covers.

We have written about decoupage in a past post and now see that the art of layering vintage printed paper for decorative purposes have started to take off in Harlem in some of the eateries uptown.   When at Maison Harlem on 127th and St. Nicholas Avenue earlier this week, we noticed that the bathroom was lined with colorfully printed paper from the pages of some old picture manual that displayed clothing and various objects of different interests.  Double Dutch Espresso which just opened on FDB and 118th Street also went for the decoupage route in their bathroom but with earlier century examples. The secret to getting this great wallpaper look is to collect a series of prints from the same time period or publication to instantly enhance a room with a little bit of art and history.
