ARCHITECTURE: PASTELS ON WEST 123RD STREET

Purist might not like the idea of painting a brownstone in a different shade other than brown but we kind of think this pastel renovation on West 123rd Street kind of brightens up the block.  Most facade restorations are basically stucco skim coating with a tint to match the original earthy hue.  In the case of the townhouse located east of FDB, the surface has now become a sandy color which compliments the pale mint cornice.  It might not be for everyone but the final look could definitely be much worse.

  1. as a person who has a clear view of this bldg through my windows, i was immediately concerned with how quickly this lightly colored facade will begin to look dirty in that NYC grimy way and having years of experience with the mostly negligent owner, unfortunately i'm not confident it will not be maintained especially once construction resumes at the massive forsaken project next door, so if you like it, enjoy it now while it retains it freshness.
