DWELL: 227 LENOX FACADE REVEALED

Number 227 Lenox Avenue just finished up its facade restoration in the past couple of weeks or so.  Scaffolding has been up for a while at this section of the Mount Morris Park Historic District by 121st Street but that did not stop the new owner from putting the home on the market.  This townhouse is apparently a flip that went into contract last month based on an initial asking price of $3.5 million.   A newly painted black cornice can be seen at top along with newly resurfaced brownstone ornamentations.  A portico column and lower windows still appear to need work but this will probably be all finished when the contract goes through.

  1. Nicely done. The folks who restored it did a very lovely job. It'll be nice to walk by this place pretty soon without having to see it all boarded up.

  2. This stretch of lower Lenox and adjacent Mount Morris Park District is one of the most stunning architectural gems in Manhattan. Good to see this corner building contributing to the magnificent street scape.

  3. Westsider, it’s not a corner building, that’s Ebeneezer Baptist Church to the immediate left. It’s a lovely block.
