REMEMBER: A POET'S HOME IN HARLEM

Poet Maya Angelou passed away yesterday in Winston-Salem but there has been an outpouring of love over at West 120th Street in the Mount Morris Park Historic District.  Dr. Angelou shuttled between her North Carolina home and her Harlem townhouse throughout the latter years of her life after a couple of famous close friends found the perfect fixer-upper within one of uptown's most desirable neighborhoods.  We never ran into the American legend over the years but admired that the Poet Laureate never forgot the greatness of Harlem and chose to establish roots here when she saw the opportunity back in 2004.
