INTRODUCING: GILDED AT MANHATTANVILLE COFFEE

We always love checking out some of the local artisans in action and Sugar Hill's gilding goddess was at work out front of the new Manhattanville Coffee shop by 142nd Street and Edgecombe. Verre églomisé is the classic art of gilding on glass that has been around for centuries but few are experts at the luxury craft.  Sandra Spannan and her Harlem-based company called See.Painting is NYC's gilding specialist on installing signage made of real hammered gold leaf and has worked on notable storefronts such as the windows of Balthazar downtown.

The owners of Manhattanville Coffee are also designers by trade so only wanted to use this traditional method on the new storefront and Sandra was the obvious local choice.  We will have the finished photo up later in the day but those in the neighborhood interested in getting the gold numbers restored on their brownstones should also get in touch with See.Painting: LINK
