BESPOKE: DRESSING UP NEW STOREFRONTS

We are a big fan of the classic hat shop that opened up on St. Nicholas Avenue and 121st Street but the biggest problem here was making the somewhat sterile new construction look more inviting.  Flamekeepers came up with a classic strip awning with more simple lines that somehow merges both new and old together.  We also like the tonal grays which is a little more contemporary but not boring at the same time.  Most businesses go with the modern light signage in situations like this but somehow those updates always make shops look like they belong in a mall.  As far as awnings go, the ones that look more like cloth convey a higher taste level than those made of shiny synthetics.  For more on the fashionable new hat shop in South Harlem, check out our past post: LINK
