REVIVE: RENAISSANCE BALLROOM UPDATE

Over 4,347 names have been added to the petition to save the Renaissance Ballroom but the developer still went in front of the community board and said the building could not be salvaged based as reported by this post in Curbed NY.  As most know by now, The Renny is probably one of the most significant sites of the Harlem Renaissance decades that still stand today but has not been made an official landmark because of real estate politics.  This also reminds us of the time the developer of P.S.186 told Community Board 9 that the building could not be saved but in fact it is now being restored as we speak.  No demolition date has been set yet for the Renaissance Ballroom and the petition is still live for those interested in getting the word out: LINK
