ARCHITECTURE: THREE TOWNHOUSES ON WEST 112TH

A row of townhouses just east of Manhattan Avenue on 112th Street shows three ways that homes have been restored over the past decades uptown.  At the far left, one can see that many just do not make the investment in replacing the crown of the building and just have the cornice removed if too damage.  The adjacent home at center shows the more cost affective minimalist update while the last building currently under renovations comes up with a little bit more detail closer to the original. Number 315 West 112th Street was slated for demolition at one point but address that has been vacant for well over a decade appears now to have new life as a 2-family conversion based on permits posted on the site.
