A few have mentioned that the bonkers sign in the Mount Morris Park Historic District might not be in line with the landmark neighborhood on many levels but now the city will weigh in. It turns out the controversial structure that looks like it was thrown out from a Star Trek set from the 60s can broadcast whatever it wants but the actual design within the historic district is another issue. As DNAinfo states, more violations have been cited by the city for not having the inaccurate signage approved by Landmarks Preservation Commission's standards and a ruling on the matter will happen sometimes in the near future: LINK
