READ: MANHATTAN IS THE NEW BROOKLYN

A recent Times article pretty much sums up the fact that parts of Manhattan are actually more affordable than prime Brooklyn neighborhood.  For those who remember the aughts, Brooklyn emerging hoods such as Williamsburg was a far off land that mainly had a lot of great parties in old industrial warehouses but now is more expensive than the Lower East Side.  Deals in Central Harlem and Hamilton Heights are a substantial savings for buyers who can not afford Downtown Brooklyn or Cobble Hill.  Some might point out that better amenities are a big plus to Brooklyn but the list of restaurant openings in Harlem have been hard for even us to keep up with recently and a Whole Foods is under construction now on 125th Street.  Another very important point to note is that those who work in the midtown area know that the commute is far much quicker from the express lines uptown than coming in from the outer borough at the western tip of Long Island.  More details in the New York Times: LINK

  1. I think once the Whole Foods opens, people who turn up their nose at Harlem will take another look. In the meantime, we love Harlem just the way it is!

  3. I just hope we don't end up with a bunch of Lulu Lemons and J.Crew shops kept in business by some dead-eyed trust fund kids more preoccupied with their iPhones than the people around them.
