INTRODUCING: BEER GARDEN ARRIVING AT VIADUCT

The Hudson River Cafe closed a few months back and it looks like the space might be turned into an amazing beer garden with river views.  We received a tip that construction has started on site and saw that The Grange pub in Hamilton Heights published a new Facebook business page called Bierstrasse.  We are just putting the two together based on timing but it all makes sense that Harlem's new beer garden will open up just a couple of blocks north of 125th Street on 12th Avenue.  Our opinion is the concept of Hudson River Cafe was a good one but it ended up looking like a generic commercial establishment one could find in any suburb.  A beer garden with a bit of historic character is more in line with what is going on in the dining scene these days in the big city and will be able to bring in foot traffic to the this section of Manhattanville.

  1. What a fantastic use of space for this location. It's a little out of the way for a nighttime destination, but a perfect stop for those enjoying the waterfront on a nice day and beer gardens are often a bit odd the beaten path. Right near the new Columbia campus too ...

  3. Super excited about this. Just walked by two days ago and said to my husband too bad there's not an outdoor cafe here as there is further south in Riverside Park near 70th street. Yay!
