EAT: BRUNCH PREVIEW AT SOLOMON & KUFF

Solomon & Kuff just debuted brunch service on Saturdays and Sundays so we decided to drop by the new Manhattanville lounge to actually see what the space looked like in proper daylight.  The good news here is that the food is exceptional and worth the trip to 12th Avenue and 133rd Street.  Food photo and menu after the jump.

One of the first things we noticed in the cavernous space is that there are actually some nice white wood flooring and charming furniture within the mix of industrial brick .  The lounge scene here tends to have quite low lighting and the music is on the louder side later in the evening which sometimes makes everything more cocktail focused.  With that said, we tried out the Portland Breaky which was a Caribbean take on the breakfast sandwich with crispy Johnny Cakes, jerked sausage patty, a couple of fried eggs and glazed plantains on the side.  Our wait staff explained that Portland Jamaica was the area that made jerk spice famous and that the entree was not a reference to the famous hipster neverland.

An amazing pepper sauce with a sweet pineapple based was the perfect condiment to the this entree which might just be one of the best things we have eaten in recent memory.  All of the flavors were expertly balance in a truly global dish that was far from boring but also not heavy handed.  Executive Chef Christopher Faulkner is definitely one to look out for and we also had another signature dish at dinner in the past week which deserved its own feature in the near future.  The drinks here fall on the better end category for those who want that mixologist experience but to the Bespoke crew, food is really the main attraction for any destination spot.  Read more about S&K in our past post: LINK
