EAT: UPTOWN FRESH BAKED BAGELS

Most cafes now serve great bagels in greater Harlem but is there any place that actually makes them on site?  We ventured up further in the Heights to 168th Street and Broadway one weekend to check out Mike's Bagels which apparently is a legit bagel bakery that has been around for a few years.  As can be seen in the above photo, the takeout counter in front of the shop pretty much looks like Subways but one can see workers in the industrial kitchen in the back upon entering.  Only a narrow sidebar exists for those who want to eat in and so we ordered an everything bagel to see how everything holds up.

Overall it was a solid option for those who live close by but not so much for us to want to go out of the way to get another fix.  Our favorite spot just a little south of West Harlem's border is the way to go in our opinion and often has lines out front in the morning hours of the weekend: LINK
