REMEMBER: 80S STREET STYLE BY ANTONIO

The Antonio exhibit at the Museum of the City of New York is not only a view of the fashion world in the 80s but also provides a window into the street style scene made famous in that decade.  Those who went to design school will remember the beautiful womenswear illustrations by the Puerto Rican artist who grew up in El Barrio but the illustrator also loved the energy and attitude of the B-boy scene.  Several polaroids (that even have telephone numbers for record keeping) are on display alongside photographs and walls of sketches and the show has a lot of works that have not been seen by the public.

Somehow the late 70s and early 80s is still a big part of what is going on in the design world nowadays and this presentation is definitely one of the highlights for anyone looking for research material,  With that said, the average fashion enthusiast who wants to take a glimpse of the past from an insider's point of view will also find this extensive presentation to be worth the trip over to the east side of the park.  More on the Antonio exhibit can be found in our past post: LINK
