ARCHITECTURE: BROWNSTONE ADDITION ON 124TH

A corner brownstone on Fifth Avenue and 124th Street has been going through some major renovations this past year which has also included a new architectural addition.  The backyard end of the property which can be seen on the north side of Marcus Garvey Park has now become a modern extension of the historic townhouse instead of an open garden space.  We actually like the green tiles which kind of look like those found around Victorian fireplaces and the color also alludes to the cornice at the top of the building. Mixing modern elements with classic homes can be a tricky balance but everything turned out okay with this particular presentation.

  1. I’m sorry, but that is just hideous. Look like an “Urgent Care” medical facility.
