REMEMBER: THE ALEXANDER GUMBY BOOKSTORE

The Museum of the City of New York on the east side has an amazing new exhibit that highlights the past LGBT historic sites in Manhattan and we noticed one particular Harlem bookstore that was listed but had not heard of before.  Alexander Gumby had an extraordinary shop at 2144 Fifth Avenue by 131st Street back in the 1920s during the Renaissance years and it apparently was the spot to socialize with some of the great artists and writers of the time.  Gumby Book Studio was actually situated within a brownstone storefront that still stands today which has recently welcomed the arrival of local coffee shop: LINK
