INTRODUCING: 2ND AVENUE SUBWAY DEBUTS AT 96TH

Like many New Yorkers on New Year's Day, we stopped by the south border of East Harlem to check out the new 2nd Avenue Q line extension.  Basically there was this dormant tunnel built to cross Central Park in the 70s and the funding ran out once again but now the MTA finally connected the crossover passage to three new stops.  So everything is pretty much express from 96th, 86th and 72nd Street so hop on either train at the last station since they tend to go at 10 minute intervals and not at the same time.  This actually took almost a century of planning to happen and the next extension to 125th Street will cost about $6 billion if it really is ever going to happen.  Apparently getting the next phase of the tunnel started was part of the 2015-2019 plan but budget cuts have pushed back construction to 2020: LINK
