EXERCISE: STEEP ROCK BOULDERING IN HARLEM

We noticed the corner space in the new Columbia University Manhattanville Campus had some construction visible on the ground floor storefront and decided to see if the rock climbing gym was under construction.  A little research on our end revealed that Steep Rock Bouldering had secured the lease and now it looks like a more contemporary athletic experience has been constructed.  Geometric rock climbing walls with warm wood finishes have now been built within the space that has soaring ceilings above but is also juxtaposed with views of the elevated train at this corner 129th Street on Broadway.  As far as a modern take on gymnasiums go, this iteration appears to be one of the most thoughtfully designed examples we have seen thus far.

More on the rock climbing establishment which actually had their first outpost on the south edge of East Harlem in our past post: LINK
