EAT: BODEGA PIZZA ON BROADWAY

Harlem Bespoke:  We took photos of the 191st Street subway station this past week and had to drop by Bodega Pizza which is only half a block north on Broadway.  This 50-seater is an homage to old school New York City with decorative shelves of groceries and graffiti or murals on the walls.  As far as the concept goes, the execution could have easily been a miss but everything really comes together at the Washington Heights eatery.  With all that said, the real reason to check out the pie shop is the wood-fired pizza that comes out on the paddle when served up.

The dish for the evening was the Tribe Called Fresh which had tomato, mozzarella, pepperoni, carmelized onions and sweet sausage all on a rustic crust that was perfection.  Our recommendation would be to order one pizza per person since the 10-inch pies go very quickly. There are also white pies and vegan options for those who are bit more particular about their pizza.  Finish everything off with a massive calzone stuffed with Nutella and a scoop of ice cream for dessert and all will be good in the universe.  Check out the full menu at: BodegaPizza.com
