ARCHITECTURE: 152 WEST 140TH FACADE FINISHES

Harlem Bespoke: The free standing fish market at 140th Street and 7th Avenue had been demolished 3 years ago and lots has changed since then. A drive-thru McDonald's next door had a full facelift and is now a modern square box instead of the retro hut that most of us grew up with. This is also quite an interesting commercial block since two fully detached buildings facing the avenue had stood here for so long.  As far as the fish market goes, construction for a new building picked up over a year ago back and now things look to be finishing up.

We walked by the Central Harlem location over the weekend and notice that the netting above the sidewalk scaffolding that had been up most of the year has completely been removed.  Word has it that the rental buildings decorated with balconies on the exterior will have 52 units all together but we were more curious about the commercial spaces on the lower level.  Original renderings had retailers such as Zara and Gucci on the ground floor but it is probably still too early to speculate on what will actually arrive on this block by Strivers Row: LINK
