It is tall, but I think it looks pretty good. Sort of serves as a bridge between the giant glass Avalon Tower to its west and those concrete towers to its east/south.

This building rendering is not that bad, it tries to pay homage to all that is surrounding it and for that I give them kudos. After all we have seen some monstrosities that don't even bother to try to fit in.

Hideous, but it will certainly bring a lot of new residents to support businesses along the FDB corridor. And the views will certainly be wonderful for residents without creating a tower int he midst of Harlem. It's certainly less ugly than the beige concrete monoliths around FD circle.

N.B. Ellison wrote part of Invisible Man while living in this building, which is enough to make it a historic landmark (he also wrote it at 306 West 141st and at a jeweler's office at 608 Fifth Ave.), but the building most assocated with him is 730 Riverside Drive, where he lived for his final decades (on the eighth floor).

Either the balcony should go across, or a lintel should have been put in above the windows to carry the line. It could even have been a modern lintel. And clearly they knew they needed something there, or they would not have interrupted the running brickwork above the windows. Another small percentage of dollars would have doubled its attractiveness, even keeping the aesthetic they were going for.
IMHO.

What a shame. Here in Troy, NY we lost a lot of our historic architecture needlessly as well. I came along and rescued mine just in the kick of time. I only paid $10k for it at an auction. It was cut into four 1 bedroom apartments but I turned it back to a single family mansion.

I am floored at what brownstones cost in NYC. If mine was in NYC instead of Troy it would go for well over 2 million. I love my house and am very fortunate to be its present steward.

this is a lovely building with great amenities. We actually did go into contract on one of the penthouses in 2008, but the developer ran into finanacial problems and was unable to close. The building was never the problem. Good to see the building has recovered.
