☞ EAT: The Giglio Festival for Foodies
The Giglio Festival today really exceeded all our expectations, and we were reminded of some nostalgic food that used to be a common sight downtown in Little Italy during festival season. The top photo is that of Pleasant Avenue with the towering Giglio monument in the background as one approached the festival grounds. Street carnival rides lined the block, followed by stands selling braciole, sausages, zeppoles, calzones and even corn dogs and knishes. It felt like what we imagined the streets of the 1950's would have been like in this heart of Old Italian Harlem. Read more on the Giglio Festival in our past post: LINK
