☞ EAT: Harlem-Paris at Chez Lucienne
American jazz was one of the fuels that drove the vibrant cultural scene in Paris. Specifically in Montmartre: a thriving community where people of all backgrounds and lifestyles came together to listen, philosophize, eat, drink and live. Many of the musicians headlining in Paris played the Harlem clubs such as the Cotton Club, the Lenox Lounge and Swing Street.
For Harlem Week, starting Sunday, August 16th, Chez Lucienne will have a special prix-fixe menu all week for a nostalgic price of $24.95. The menu is also inspired by the types of food one might find during the Jazz Age in France, which will include appetizers, entrees ranging from Poulet Basquaise to Pork Shank with Pomme Dauphin and also intriguing desserts with such names as Ile Flottante. There will be live jazz this Sunday from 7-10, so come early for what is sure to be a popular event for this summer. 308 Malcolm X/Lenox Avenue, between 125th and 126th street. Tel.(212) 289-5555. Take the 2,3 train to 125th Street and walk one block north. www.chezlucienne.com
