The last time we looked at the W Hotel's sister branch, Aloft at FDB/8th Avenue and 124th Street, it was just finishing off the foundation. A couple of months will do wonders in the construction world, and the entire structure is already at five floors. We wondered what the carriage house condo stuck in the middle of the hotel would look like next to it, and the picture is getting a little more clear. The April 2010 opening date is just seven months away, so the transformation of the once-desolate lot will even be more dramatic in the months to follow.
It's definitely coming along. I sincerely hope that there won't the type of drama going on in the E. Village with some of the hotels and tenants. It's not pretty and very acrimonious.
