☞ INTRODUCING: Bad Horse Pizza on FDB

Venturing out today, we noticed that the old Corcoran office at 120th and FDB/8th Avenue had new signs up on the windows.  Apparently a pizza eatery called Bad Horse Pizza is coming soon to the commercial space at No. 2222 but there's not much else on the internet except a place holder for the website: www.BadHorsePizza.com.  DOB permits do not seem to have been filed yet so we will have to wait this one out to see what happens.

  1. watch, now we will be inundated with pizza joints. Feast or famine.

  2. We don't need any more by-the-slice places or Papa John's. But if it is a nice sit-down brick-oven sort of a place, that would be nice. Think Patsy's.

  3. Sit down place would be great. Although, I would love to see a good old fashioned diner open up anywhere on Lenox/ACP/FDB b/w 118th & 122nd!

  4. Very excited for a good pizza joint to open up here but is it just me or is this a terrible name for an eating establishment? The name makes me think of eating...bad horse pizza.

  5. Brick oven place allegedly to open on 119 and Lenox. And I agree--Dead Horse Pizza? Really just setting itself up for bad jokes.

  6. Oh-- it's BAD Horse Pizza. OK --not as bad. But now I will always think of it as Dead Horse.

  7. gotta consider that the name may be a good marketing tool. not your usual tony's or mike's joint. just my opinion.

  8. Agreed bacardi. If anything it will have people talking about it...this thread already has 8 comments ;)

  9. My guess (going only on the name and graphics) is the people behind this place are going the "hip urban" route, unlike Frizzante which seemed to follow a slightly behind-the-times dining model a la Little Italy.

  10. Agree with foodlover. Perhaps the same vein as Two Boots pizza.

  11. Diner, yes we need one badly. Scramble eggs with bacon and toast or a all American old fashion meat meat loaf platter.

  12. They have a twitter feed (http://twitter.com/BadHorsePizza), where they've posted some of their "product development" (are those slices of real mozarella, not the shredded stuff? http://twitpic.com/3t78nr). In their first tweet they say they're hoping to open by March.

  13. DanS: Thanks for linking the Twitter feed and pic. Judging by that pic, it looks like slices of fresh mozzarella layered over shredded -- with a medium-thin crust, lightly charred finish, and a decent amount of sauce.

So it looks pretty solid, at least for my taste in pizza...

  14. I wonder if the "Bad Horse" is a reference to Dr. Horrible.

  15. Mad Joy: If so, this place could easily pick up some fame in nerd / hipster circles. I wonder if they could get Neil Patrick Harris involved somehow...
