☞ EAT: Honeycomb Burgers Arriving on FDB

Chocolat at 2223 FDB/8th Avenue and 120th Street is about to get a new neighbor.  The massive center retail space in the building that takes up a full block on the FDB corridor now has signs up announcing that Honeycomb Burgers will be arriving soon.  It looks like a big operation but having burgers as the main item means that something more affordable should be coming along. Once this establishment opens up, the only remaining retails space on that side of the street would be at the south corner of the building.  Cupcake Suite has been trying to open up in the past year within that space but has failed to do so: LINK.  Click on lower image to enlarge

  2. You weren't kidding about the massive center space! I walked by this afternoon and the storefront, if the signs and frosted windows mean anything, is at least a hundred feet wide.

"Naturally sweet" is an odd slogan for a burger place though...

  4. Let's hope it isn't overpriced, but since the owners of Chocolat are involved, I anticipate a $20 burger. Chocolat is WAY overpriced.

  5. Though excited about a burger spot, I'm worried about the sheer size of the place...

  6. My fingers are firmly crossed for a decent burger place - but, if the Chocolat team are behind this then I'm a little skeptical. Chocolat is a fun place to visit, the owners clearly care about the decor and mood but take their eye off the quality and seasoning of the food. Especially at the $20+ price point Uptown Girl mentions! I'm hoping for the best, but am also hoping that Harlem Tavern opens soon so we can have multiple bar options.

  8. Same owner of Chocolate and Mocca.... not a good sign as far as I'm concerned. WHY WHY hasn't anyone decided to open up a good diner?!!! A place where you can get a solid breakfast early/ late at night at an affordable price. It will make a killing. Does no one watch Diner Drive ins and Dives or any of the Chef's favorite resturants???.... THE ONLY REASON WHY THESE PLACES DO SO WELL is because they make the FOOD FROM SCRATCH and make it moderately priced... WHAT A CONCEPT!!! COOKING good not out of the package! Pancakes, French Toast, Eggs, grits... Hash.. come on Harlem!!! There will be lines out the door if its done right. It can be open late nights, make it hip.... create 'Turn Table Tuesdays" feature a local DJ with cool tunes, and serve specialty pancakes....God where is the creativity?!!

  9. Haven't checked this for a while, but yeah, Guest, spot on. I will reserve judgment until this place opens, but man, why can't we just get a good old fashioned Diner going? Simple stuff - pancakes, milkshakes etc. Doesn't have to be fancy, greasy spoon will do.
