☞ MEET: DOT West 120th Street Proposal

Thursday, February 16th from 3:30-4:30 PM, MMPCIA and the DOT meeting on safety on West 120th Street, to be held at the Harlem Branch Library, 9 West 124 Street. The Mount Morris Park Community Improvement association and Margaret Forgione, Manhattan Commissioner of Dept of Transportation, will be gathering this afternoon to discuss DOT's proposal to address safety issues on Mount Morris Park West and West 120 Street.  Vehicle crashes around the curb has caused property damage to homeowners for many decades and new speed limits along with a sidewalk extension will be reviewed.

  2. I run around the park several mornings a week and would love to see the speed limits around it reduced.

  3. Great idea, but will the extended sidewalks screw up the bike race and marathon? The wide street makes it perfect for those events. Just do what we do in England and put in a few speed bumps along the way. Pain in the arse if you're a driver, but they do the job to slow things down a bit.

  4. i try to cross MMW often and find many drivers show no signs of slowing if your scurring across the street. they turn the corner at the stop sign, see the green light and race to make the timed lights down fifth. I like the idea of both wider sidewalks and speed bumps. Forget about the bike race and marathon, a high school is coming more kids will be crossing the street.
