☞ SEE: Hollywood in West Harlem
A small side street in West Harlem was made into a film set this past week and a Bespoke ready caught some of the action on camera. The block just below 125th Street and Broadway had an existing dry cleaning shop which was transformed into a retro barbershop for the film called The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. This remake of the classic short story originally set in the 1930s stars Ben Stiller and reportedly Sean Penn will make a cameo. Ben Stiller was definitely on site this past weekend during the last days of filming and many locals caught a glimpse of the actor doing several takes along Broadway. The lower shot shows the actor entering the 1 train entrance on 125th Street.

Anyonw watch NYC 22 last night? They blew up the brand new ampitheatre @ Mt Morris Park (sic) and boy did it look real!
ReplyDeleteThis was not the only movie filming in Harlem in the last few days -- there were crowds of extras in late 1950s/early 1960s garb on Lenox in the 120s on Sunday for the filming of something called "Monica Z".
ReplyDeleteAnd Boardwalk Empire was filming around 122nd and Lenox on Friday. Lenox Ave was a mess Friday evening with all the film trailers and equipment and all the cops, firemen and EMTs responding to the building collapse on 123rd.
ReplyDeleteSanou Mom-NYC 22 has lots of shots of Harlem in it. The opening title sequence has the Viaduct on 12th ave n 135th in it. The pilot episode filmed at 114th n morningside ave. Those kids fought at that statue right next to the park. Ive noticed the Viaduct in many tv,movies, and music videos. Lady Gaga has a video where a huge dance scene happens under the viaduct(you can see fairway in background)
