I guess that explains the black sheeting.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I'd agree it was a "proper launch". I live a stone's throw away and had no idea that it had officially opened or that it was an "eatery". (Thought it was booze only). But I guess if secrecy with a distinct lack of marketing is what they're going for, it was proper indeed.
Totally agree.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. I saw the day Bobby Flay was filming and that's been well over a month. I've never seen anybody there or any type of activity.
ReplyDeleteThey're open? I live a block away, and usually was just brushed off by security people out front who said it was open only for private events. Nice to know ... though I'm a little prejudiced already!
ReplyDeleteI give it 6 months. People in the neighborhood want places that are welcoming.
ReplyDeleteWe went there over a month ago, after an early dinner one Saturday night and loved the ambience. I think it gets going later rather than earlier. The patrons were upscale and sophisticated,as was the vibe of the cozy two-story establishment. I got the impression that they opened with a clientele that was waiting for this spot. We are older than the usual club crowd; and far from being brushed off, we were made to feel welcome; even seated in a loung area that was reserved for a private party after wejoked that we'd be home in bed before the celebration got started. The crowd wasn't diverse; it was a stylish black crowd, but I'm sure everyone is welcome, as they usually have been in classy uptown clubs.
ReplyDeleteVal - that's good to know! I have to agree with the other comments about wondering if they were even open. My wife and I have looked over that way often wondering "Are they open yet or not?" We'll have to give it a try.
DeleteThey own the building. Enough said.
ReplyDeleteIt gets going later and is very busy, there is a dress code, and a good DJ. It has different rooms with street level and cellar bars. It is a very lively party atmosphere with almost no diversity in the clientele but all are welcome. It seems to be doing well and adding to the extremely busy establishments that now enliven the two blocks of upper Lenox. I wish them well.
ReplyDeleteNot understanding the responses of neighbors who said they "had no idea" the place was open or that they serve food . I live a few blocks away and have been a few times. Sure there are ropes outsiide and security, but this is your community-- go inside, check out the menu, look around and show a bit more interest. I've enjoyed the music, drinks, attractive people, ambience, and am glad they are here adding to the sophistication of the area
