☞ REMEMBER: 116th and 8th Avenue circa 1905
An old photo taken over a century ago shows the fully developed block of 116th Street just west of 8th Avenue. One can clearly see Morningside Park in the distance along with Columbia University on top of the hill alongside several new prewar buildings on Morningside Drive. The lower photo shows the same block today with a few of the buildings missing on 116th and the public transportation has since been replaced by buses.

Looks like this old photo was taken from the elevated train, possibly the 116th street station platform.
ReplyDeleteWould love to see trolley cars again.
