☞ ARCHITECTURE: Lafayette Building Revealed
The New York Times has a followup story on the new building that will replace the demolished former Lafayette Theatre at 131st Street. There will 115 rental apartments, commercial space and room for a church at the lower floor when all is finished. Preservation of Harlem's rich history was never considered as the feature points out and thus another important part of Harlem's past is gone: LINK

Very sad, I remember the wonderful black and white photo of the 1936 Macbeth production featured on an earlier post. I guess the question has to be asked, why was this not land-marked.
