THIS ARTICLE HAS BEEN UPDATED WITH THE ACTUAL ADDRESS OF THE TAVERN.
Cool Hunting just announced that the downtown design studio BHDM who created The Lion restaurant in Greenwich Village will now help launch a craft brew bar in Hamilton Heights. The designers used to do all the store interiors for Ralph Lauren so this is big news. As far as location goes, West 142nd Street was mentioned and we did not quite think this would actually be in the Heights but a tip came in that verified the fact.
Some information on the Hog's Head Tavern can be found which states that it is indeed at 126 Hamilton Place which was a former 99 cent shop just north of 142nd Street. So the article should have really read that the new space was close to 142nd and not on 142nd. Anyways, this just further evolves the better options in Hamilton Heights and makes it the neighborhood to pay attention to in 2014. An illustration of the new 17-seat bar can be found within the article and folks should expect plaid tiles in a classic-themed interior. Based on the design credentials of the duo involved, we expect this to be the best new interior for the year and one to definitely look out for. More details on the designers can be found in Cool Hunting: LINK
It's on Hamilton Place between 142 and 143, in the old 99 cent store space. You can see it on the liquor license application (I also live around the corner...)
ReplyDeletePretty sure I saw a sign for hogshead tavern on Hamilton place and 142.
ReplyDeleteI also saw yesterday a new eatery that looks under construction on about 140th and Edgecombe (fork and knife sign in window). Just as I'm about to leave the immediate hood possibly after 10 years (selling!)
ReplyDeletedoes anyone know anything about this spot?
DeleteDoes anyone know anything about this location????
DeleteLove all these bar and grill places coming to HH, but wish we could get some more variety of restaurants....like Thai, Indian, a gourmet grocery store!
ReplyDeleteIndian is already on the way- Amsterdam btwn 138 and 139. There was a Thai place shared with a dry cleaners (?!) around 148th and St. Nic. but it didn't survive. Fairway at 12th and 132 is as close as we have to a gourmet grocery store in the area.
DeleteDoes anyone know if the Indian restaurant on Amsterdam is still moving forward? I haven't seen any change in many months...
DeleteOkay it's all been cleared up. Everyone's been sitting on this as of late! Please send tips to: harlembespoke@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteAmazing how much the neighborhood has changed in the last 18 months!
ReplyDeleteYAY!!! Go Hamilton Heights!
ReplyDeleteI cant believe I am saying this, but we need a place like this in South Harlem.
ReplyDeleteHooray!!! Welcome! Welcome to Hamilton Heights!
ReplyDeleteYes, indeed - welcome to Hamilton Heights! Will there be food?
